Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver to provide direct support, guidance and instruction to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live as independently as possible while maintaining dignity.

Join a mission-driven team with multiple shifts across Gary, Merrillville, Valparaiso and Hobart. Pay ranges from $15 to $16.75 per hour, with paid training and comprehensive benefits for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Background clearance required.
• Able to drive to transport persons served.
• Excellent reading, writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring and guidance.
• Ensure comfort, safety and personal growth of individuals served.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Assist with activities of daily living.

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver provides direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect.

• Provide hands‑on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene and more.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required (due to transporting persons served)
• Candidates must be comfortable driving to transport persons served as required
  • Some positions/locations may require your own personal vehicle and auto liability insurance based on the role
