Dungarvin in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to work in residential homes with adults who have disabilities. You will support daily living activities and promote independence in a person-centered environment.

You will provide mentorship, assist with meals and personal care, and help ensure health and safety while encouraging community integration. A valid driver's license is required; paid training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Successful background clearance is part of onboarding.
• Good reading, writing and communication skills for documenting care.

Wage: $17.00 per hour + $2.00 per hour weekend shift differential (for any time worked on weekends, from 5pm Friday to 8am Monday)

Job Description

***Positions are available in Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, West Allis, Waukesha, and Oak Creek.***

What You Get To Do:

Working directly as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you will be able to assist in a residential group home by assisting people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes, assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration. The DSP (caregiver/mentor) is responsible for providing:

• Support and mentorship with daily activities to those we support in a manner that ensures their health and safety. Some examples include helping with meals, cleaning, perform housekeeping, laundry duties and facilitating fun activities.
• Hands-on mentoring to those we serve to help them become more independent.
• Positive direction to the individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
• Provide medication administration and ensure person's medical well-being.

No experience? If you meet the basic job requirements, we will provide the necessary paid training and hands-on experience.

If interested in a Behavioral DSP role – To be successful in this role we are looking for candidates with prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical. You will provide support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and people who are faced with mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges. We are looking to hire staff who are patient, have good decision-making and crisis-management skills, and who will not be intimidated by these behaviors. Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

What Makes You A Great Fit:

• Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED certificate
• A successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process
• Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
• A valid driver's license is required for this position (due to transporting persons served)
• Candidates must be comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required
  • Some positions / locations may require own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance based on the role

Nice to Have:

• Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities or related experience
• Certifications & trainings (CBRF, CNA, CPR, etc.) are appreciated but not required
