Job summary

RHDD in Zanesville, OH is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and community. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, transportation, and health-related tasks.

The position offers full-time and part-time hours, including overnights (9pm/10pm–8am/9am) with a weekend shift (3pm–9pm) on alternating days. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver’s License (with less than six points).
• Reliable transportation with current proof of state minimum auto insurance, most positions require use of personal automobile during work hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community.
• Assist individuals with daily living activities including housekeeping, meals and menu prep, grocery shopping, day to day finances.
• Assist with personal hygiene: bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding, toileting and positioning.
• Provide transportation for delegated activities (doctor appointments, outings, shopping, vacations).
• Document and administer medication and health-related tasks.
• Report to supervisor any suspected medical needs, abuse, neglect and other safety issues.
• Gain the trust of individuals and become part of their extended support network.

What will you be doing?

• As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you could be wearing many hats. A DSP provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and out in the community.
• You could be teaching the individuals we serve how to complete a given task.
• You could be assisting the individuals with daily living activities which may include housekeeping, meal and menu prep, grocery shopping, day to day finances etc.
• You could be assisting the individuals with personal hygiene examples include but not limited to: bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding toileting and positioning when necessary.
• You could be providing transportation for the individual to delegated activities. Which could include, but not limited to doctor appointments, outings into the community, shopping and vacations.
• You could be documenting and administering medication and health related tasks.
• You could be reporting to your supervisor any suspected need of medical attention, evidence of abuse, neglect and other health and safety issues.
• You could be gaining a friend to the individuals. They will see you as someone they can trust. They could even become like an extended family.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 18 years of age or older
