Job summary

RHDD is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community in The Plains, OH. You may wear many hats, teaching tasks, helping with daily living activities, and accompanying individuals to appointments and outings.

You will document health-related tasks, assist with personal care, and report concerns to your supervisor. A reliable driver’s license and transportation are required, with the organization offering

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license with low points.
• Reliable transportation with proof of state minimum auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities in homes and in the community.
• Assist with daily living activities including housekeeping, meals, grocery shopping, finances.
• Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and positioning.
• Provide transportation to activities and appointments.
• Document and administer medications and health-related tasks.
• Report any health or safety concerns to supervisor.
• Build trusting, supportive relationships with individuals and their families.

Saturdays and Sundays - 8am to 8pm.

Fridays - 2:30pm to 8pm.

What will you be doing?

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you could be wearing many hats. A DSP provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and out in the community.

You could be teaching the individuals we serve how to complete a given task.

You could be assisting the individuals with daily living activities which may include housekeeping, meal and menu prep, grocery shopping, day to day finances etc.

You could be assisting the individuals with personal hygiene examples include but not limited to: bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding toileting and positioning when necessary.

You could be providing transportation for the individual to delegated activities. Which could include, but not limited to doctor appointments, outings into the community, shopping and vacations.

You could be documenting and administering medication and health related tasks.

You could be reporting to your supervisor any suspected need of medical attention, evidence of abuse, neglect and other health and safety issues.

You could be gaining a friend to the individuals. They will see you as someone they can trust. They could even become like an extended family.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid Driver’s License (with less than six (6) points).
• Reliable transportation with current proof of state minimum auto insurance, most positions require use of personal automobile during work hours
