Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with IDD in their homes and communities in Wilmington, NC and surrounding areas. You will support daily living tasks, personal care, meal prep, and transportation while maintaining client schedules and reporting in the health system.

The role offers entry-level training, flexible part-time hours, and competitive pay at $15 per hour.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of housekeeping, nutrition, and safety protocols helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home and in the community.
• Assist with housekeeping, meals, personal care, and transportation.
• Plan and organize the client’s schedule.
• Document and report daily in the electronic health system.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying outthat mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available
Location: Wilmington, NC and surrounding areas with local community travel

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
