Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities live as independently as possible in their homes and communities.

You will assist with daily tasks, transport clients to appointments, and maintain daily documentation in our electronic health system.

Qualifications

• Entry-level; on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn
• DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and in the community.
• Assist with daily tasks such as housekeeping, meals, personal care, and transportation.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the client's schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying outthat mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available
Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter's Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
