Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with IDD in their homes and communities. You will support daily living activities, nutrition, safety, and personal care, while promoting independence and dignity.

The role involves transportation, scheduling, and documenting activities in the health record system. Training is provided, with flexible hours and part-time opportunities across North Carolina in local communities.

Qualifications

• Entry-level; on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and in the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

Position details: Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available
Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter's Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel

Your Role in Our Mission

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
