Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with IDD in their homes and communities, performing daily living tasks and personal care. You may transport clients, help coordinate schedules, and document activities in the electronic health record.

This entry-level position offers Monday–Friday shifts, with local travel, and flexible hours. Training includes CPR/first aid, safety, and medication management, and there are benefits for part-time and as-needed

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition and safety protocols are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home and community where the person lives.
• Assist with daily tasks such as housekeeping, meals, bathing and dressing.
• Transport client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the individual’s schedule.
• Document daily activities in the electronic health record.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying outthat mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available
Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter's Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
