Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in New Bern, NC to help people with IDD complete daily living tasks and achieve their goals. This full-time role operates Monday–Friday 7:30am–3:30pm, with some Saturday hours, at our facility and in the community.

You will assist with housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, transportation, documentation in the EHR, and schedule planning.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role; on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills and dependability.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the facility and in the community where clients live.
• Assist with daily living tasks and personal care.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
• Document daily activities in the electronic health record.
• Help plan and organize client schedules.

As a Direct Support Professional / DSP, you’ll play a critical role in carrying outthat mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

• Position details: Full-Time - Monday-Friday; 7:30am-3:30pm, with some Saturday hours.
• Location: New Bern, NC
• Compensation: $18.00 hourly ($12.00 training rate)

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in our facility and within and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Dailydocumentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
