Job summary

Wendell Foster is seeking an energetic Direct Support Professional for our Day Training Department to join the #DifferenceMakers team in Owensboro. The role runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a starting hourly rate of $16.00.

Employment includes PTO, full benefits (medical, dental, vision), and additional programs such as 403b retirement and life insurance. Applicants must have a HS diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with insurable driving record, and CPR/first aid

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Possession of valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Currently possess or able to complete first aid and CPR certification (training provided).
• Complete all training required by the Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Understand the individuals’ rights and display respect and dignity when interacting with the individuals.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and implement the plan of care.
• Understand the departmental policy on the correct way to report any suspected form of abuse that may be observed and/or reported.
• Serve as a member of the individual’s plan of care team.
• Assist with daily living such as walking, getting dressed, personal hygiene, eating, using the toilet, bathing, meal planning and preparation, laundry, budgeting and financial assistance, home care, and cleaning.
• Provide emotional support, advice, and assistance to help the individual work through problems.
• Provide or arrange for transportation to services, activities, and medical appointments as needed.
• Actively participate in medical appointments and follow-up care as directed by the physician.
