Job summary

Advocates Incorporated in New York seeks a dedicated Mentor (DSP/1:1 support) to help a young man with a developmental disability achieve personal goals at home and in the community.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Advocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a kind and active young man with a developmental disability. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in her community.Goals include:• Learning Fine Motor Skills - Picking up small items, managing buttons, and small switches• Social skills - making community connections and friendships, initiating conversations• Independent living skills - grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning• Participate in hobbies and interest to be more involved in community lifeSeeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, active, and has a calm nature about them. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience.Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.Hours and days of workTuesday and Thursday (9 AM - 5 PM)Full-time opportunities may be available.Pay rate: $21 per hour when providing direct support.
