Job summary

Advocates in Chittenango, NY seeks a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to assist a kind young man with developmental disability, helping him work on goals at home and in the community.

Responsibilities include developing fine motor, social and independent living skills, and facilitating hobbies to increase community participation. Hours Tue and Thu 9 AM–5 PM; pay $21/hour for direct support; $16/hour for indirect training; benefits include mileage, insurance, and 401k.

Job Details: Job Location: Chittenango, NY - Chittenango, NY 13037, Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Salary Range: $16.00 - $21.00 Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, Advocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a kind and active young man with a developmental disability.He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in her community.

Goals include:

• Learning Fine Motor Skills- Picking up small items, managing buttons, and small switches
• Social skills- making community connections and friendships, initiating conversations
• Independent living skills- grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning
• Participate in hobbies and interest to be more involved in community life

Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, active, and has a calm nature about them.Related experience working with individuals withdisabilitiespreferred but not required.Please respond witha resume or summary of experience.

Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.

Hours and days of work

Tuesday and Thursday (9 AM - 5 PM)

Full-time opportunities may be available.

Pay rate: $21 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.
