Job summary

Ability Beyond is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help adults with intellectual, developmental, physical, and behavioral health needs in residential and community settings. No prior experience required; paid training is provided.

You will assist with daily living activities, transportation, independent living skills, and participate in social and community activities. Fulltime schedules include mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to learn with paid training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on daily living assistance (cooking, cleaning, hygiene, mobility).
• Assist with personal care, bathing, toileting, and medication reminders.
• Help individuals build independent living skills (budgeting, communication, meal planning).
• Provide transportation to appointments and community activities.
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities.
• Implement behavioral support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Collaborate with nurses and other clinicians for well-rounded care.
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services and daily activities.

Direct Support Professional | No Experience Required

Pay Rate: $20.25 to $20.75 per hour

Locations: Multiple programs across Westchester County, Putnam County, and Dutchess County

Schedule: Guaranteed set fulltime schedules available including first, second, and third shifts, as well as weekends.

What You Will Do

• Provide hands on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities such as fitness, crafts, Special Olympics, and community events
• Implement behavioral support strategies and use de escalation techniques when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members to provide well rounded care
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities
