Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide person-centered care and daily living assistance in a residential setting. You will build meaningful relationships, encourage independence, and help clients pursue their goals.

Role requires compassionate care, reliable transportation, and the ability to document activities and communicate with a supportive team. Training is provided; prior experience is not required.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; training provided on the job.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to read, write, and document care activities in English.
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement and support.
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, meals, and transportation.
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
• Advocate for individuals’ rights, needs, and preferences.
• Monitor health and wellbeing and report changes as needed.
• Complete required documentation and participate in trainings and team meetings.
