Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) in Connecticut is hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in homes and community settings. You will support daily living activities, help people pursue personal goals, and maintain safety and dignity in a person-centered approach.

Roles involve transport to appointments, medication assistance with MAP, and collaborating with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Connecticut driver\'s license.
• Ability to pass all required background screenings, including FBI clearance when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support in accordance with each individual's person-centered ISP.
• Assist individuals in working toward personal goals and outcomes.
• Support activities of daily living, including meal preparation, hygiene, and household tasks.
• Provide transportation to appointments and community activities as needed.
• Assist individuals in accessing community resources and supports.
• Administer or assist with medications in accordance with MAP certification requirements.
• Complete required documentation and reports accurately and timely.
• Work collaboratively with clinical and program staff to support quality services.
• Promote healthy, safe, and socially appropriate behaviors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Valid Connecticut driver's license
• Ability to pass all required background screenings, including FBI clearance when applicable

Preferred

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
• Prior experience in human services, healthcare, or caregiving roles working with individuals with autism
• Ability to obtain MAP certification

Schedule

• Full Time (40 hrs per week)
• Shifts available across residential programs in Connecticut regions
• Opportunities available in Trumbull & Oxford

Physical Requirements

• Ability to assist individuals with activities of daily living
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed during routine job duties
• Ability to safely transport and accompany individuals in the community
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
