Job summary

Resources for Human Development is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist clients with daily living, personal care, and meal preparation. You will foster respectful relationships, promote independence, and participate in social and recreational activities.

The role emphasizes documenting progress, coordinating care with families and the team, and maintaining client records. Onboarding includes background checks and required certifications where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable, team-oriented, service-focused, professional and positive.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).
• Must participate in onboarding including background and driver record check.

Responsibilities

• Support clients in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
• Foster a positive relationship with clients while promoting independence.
• Assist clients in developing skills for everyday living and participate in social activities.
• Document client progress and maintain accurate records of care and support.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or a related field preferred.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for the position).
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).
• Must participate in all onboarding requirements including criminal background and driver's record check.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
