Residential Service Systems (RSS) is a program of Resources for Human Development (RHD) established in 1975 to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
RSS provides residential and community-based supports focused on helping individuals maximize their independence, quality of life, and involvement in their communities.

What You’ll Do
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for the safety and supervision of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in community-based settings. You'll provide hands-on assistance, encourage greater independence, and help individuals achieve the goals outlined in their individualized plans.
Daily Living & Independence
- Assist with activities of daily living, including meal planning and preparation, housekeeping, cleaning, shopping, and personal hygiene.
- Provide the level of assistance needed to help each individual maximize their independence and quality of life.
- Encourage individuals to develop new skills and work toward their personal goals.
- Provide supervision and guidance to help individuals build confidence and competence.
- Support individuals in achieving outcomes identified in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Provide trauma-informed, person-centered care.
Community Involvement & Relationships
- Encourage individuals to develop meaningful relationships and become active members of their communities.
- Support participation in leisure and recreational activities.
- Provide transportation to medical appointments, community activities, day programs, religious services, family visits, and other activities.
- Help individuals access opportunities and resources in their communities.
Health, Safety & Medication Support
- Maintain the safety and well-being of individuals living in the residential program.
- Administer medications as required after completing required medication training and certification.
- Monitor for crisis situations or potential concerns and respond according to established policies and best practices.
- Follow individual supervision requirements outlined in each person's ISP or Behavioral Support Plan.
- Follow incident management and reporting procedures.
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, or mistreatment according to organizational requirements.
Documentation & Teamwork
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain medication logs, daily logs, goal documentation, incident reports, and other required records.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Attend required home and office staff meetings.
- Complete required annual and competency-based training.
- Work closely with the Site Supervisor and other team members to ensure individuals' needs are met.
- Assist with emergency and on-call activities when requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic computer and internet skills
- Ability to read, write, and complete required documentation in English
- Ability to complete required training, including CPR, First Aid, and other assigned training
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree
- Previous experience in human services
- Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Schedule
- Schedule is based on the needs of the residential program.
- Flexibility in working hours may be required.
- Schedules may include evenings and weekends.
- Employees may assist with on-call activities or emergency situations as requested.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, twist, and climb steps.
- Ability to drive a vehicle as required.
- Ability to perform the physical responsibilities associated with supporting individuals in residential and community settings.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more as required by the position.
- Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
