Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is hiring for a Direct Care Worker in the Pittsburgh area. The role focuses on supporting clients with health, wellness and safety needs and promoting independence in daily living activities.

Responsibilities include implementing individual support plans, documenting progress, and reporting concerns. Candidates must have English proficiency, CPR, health screening, and Pennsylvania certifications or approved training. Position offers comprehensive benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write proficiently in English.
• Successful completion of the Direct Care Worker Competency evaluation.
• Current CPR Card.
• Current Health Screening per state regulations.
• Proof of Pennsylvania nursing license OR PA-certified nurse aide OR PA home health aide program certificate.
• Competency evaluation or state-approved training meeting regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure client’s Health, Wellness and Safety.
• Encourage independent living skills and daily living activities.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
• Promote advocacy and individual rights.
• Maintain detailed, compliant documentation on client status, interactions and progress.
• Safely implement behavior support plan strategies for the individual served.
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation immediately.
• Utilize prompting, instruction, modeling and reinforcement in person-centered services.
• Promote independence in daily living, work/volunteer, learning and leisure.
• Provide transportation as needed.
• Complete required annual trainings to maintain certifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure client’s Health, Wellness and Safety

• Accurate and immediate reporting of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

• Provide transportation, based on client needs.
• Complete required annual trainings to maintain certifications as appropriate

Requirements

• Ability to read and write proficiently in English
• Successful completion of the Direct Care Worker Competency evaluation process
• Current CPR Card
• Current Health Screening (in accordance with state regulations)
• Provide proof of one of the following qualifications:
  • A valid and verifiable Pennsylvania nurses license OR
  • A valid and verifiable Pennsylvania certified nurse aide certification OR
  • Certificate of completion from state approved home health aide program. OR
  • Has demonstrated competency by passing a competency evaluation developed by the Home Care Agency which meets the requirements of the state OR
  • Completion of a training program developed by a Home Care Agency or Home Care Registry, or other entity which meets the requirements of the state or training program meeting the standards imposed on the agency or registry by virtue of the agency’s or registry’s participating as a provider in a Medicaid waiver or other publicly funded program providing home and community based services to qualifying consumers OR
  • Successful completion of another program identified by the Department by subsequent publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin or on the Departments website
