Resources for Human Development is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate care in a residential setting in Philadelphia, PA. The role emphasizes dignity, independence, and meaningful daily activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass state and federal criminal background checks, drug screening, and pre-employment physical and PPD.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
• Assist with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene).
• Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Support daily living skills and foster independence.
• Help individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events.
• Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.
• Follow individualized support plans and goals, promoting dignity and person-centered care.

What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
• Preparing meals and assisting with feeding as needed
• Supporting daily living skills and fostering independence
• Helping individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events
• Providing companionship, encouragement, and emotional support
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment
• Following individualized support plans and goals
• Promoting dignity, respect, and person-centered care

Qualifications

  • State and federal criminal background checks
  • Drug screening
  • Pre-employment physical and PPD

Preferred

• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, healthcare, human services, or a related field
• CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain certification

Schedule

• Variable schedule based on program needs
• Weekends and holidays may be required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
