Job summary

Resources for Human Development is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Malvern, PA. This regular part-time service worker will provide direct care and supervision to individuals with mental health disabilities, helping them build skills and achieve goals outlined in ISPs and person-centered plans.

The role involves assisting with daily living activities, coordinating transportation, and promoting community participation in a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer and internet proficiency including email and electronic documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to complete all required background checks including FBI clearance where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support per ISP and person-centered plan.
  • Assist individuals in achieving personal goals and outcomes.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within timeframes.
  • Administer medications per agency policies.
  • Provide transportation to appointments and activities.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (meal prep, hygiene, toileting, chores).
  • Support community integration and access to resources (appointments, services, activities).
  • Promote independence, dignity, self-advocacy and positive interactions.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive living environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and support to individuals with mental health disabilities and behavioral health histories in community-based residential settings. This role helps individuals build skills, increase independence, and achieve goals identified in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and person-centered support plans.

The DSP works closely with clinical and support teams to implement interventions, assist with daily living activities, encourage community participation, and ensure a safe and supportive environment for those served.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and support in accordance with each individual's ISP and person-centered support plan.
  • Assist individuals in achieving personal goals and desired outcomes.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Administer medications in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide transportation to appointments, community activities, and other approved destinations.
  • Support individuals with activities of daily living, including:
    • Meal preparation
    • Personal hygiene
    • Toileting and personal care
    • Household tasks
    • Other individualized support needs
  • Assist individuals with community integration and access to resources, including:
    • Medical appointments
    • Social services
    • Recreational and leisure activities
    • Community-based supports and services
  • Promote independence, dignity, self-advocacy, and positive social interactions.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive living environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer and internet proficiency, including the ability to use email, electronic documentation systems, and timekeeping platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and employment screenings, including FBI clearance where applicable.
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in mental health, behavioral health, residential services, or other human services settings.
