Advancing Opportunities in Jackson, NJ is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for full-time weekend shifts. The position pays $19.16/hour with $20.16/hour on weekends, plus DailyPay access.

You will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting independence, dignity, and community participation in a trauma-informed residential setting. We offer paid training, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth across service lines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
• Ability to read, write, communicate, and complete documentation in English.
• Basic computer literacy including email and time-recording systems.
• Ability to pass required trainings including CPR and First Aid.
• Schedule flexibility based on program needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities including meal prep, housekeeping, personal hygiene, shopping, and household maintenance.
• Provide support promoting independence, dignity, safety, wellness, and quality of life.
• Help individuals develop relationships and participate in community activities.
• Supervise and guide individuals to build skills and confidence.
• Transport individuals to medical appointments, activities, and other commitments.
• Administer medications following policies and training.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, shopping, and household maintenance.
• Provide support that promotes independence, dignity, safety, wellness, and quality of life.
• Help individuals develop relationships, participate in community activities, and work toward their personal goals.
• Provide supervision and guidance to help individuals build skills and confidence.
• Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, day programs, religious services, family visits, and other assigned destinations.
• Administer medications and carry out prescribed healthcare programs following required policies and training.
• Implement individualized service and behavioral support plans.
• Complete medication records, daily logs, goal documentation, incident reports, vehicle logs, and other required paperwork accurately.
• Monitor and respond appropriately to crises or potential crisis situations.
• Maintain confidentiality and interact with individuals in a respectful, age-appropriate, and professional manner.
• Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, inspections, and investigations.
• Work collaboratively with the Lead Direct Support Professional and Residential Manager to ensure individuals’ needs are met.
• Help maintain a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed residential environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate
• At least 21 years of age
• Valid driver's license
• Clean motor vehicle record
• Current vehicle registration and insurance, as required
• Ability to read, write, communicate, and complete documentation in English
• Basic computer literacy, including experience with email, Microsoft Office, time-recording systems, or similar applications
• Ability to complete all required training, including CPR and First Aid
• Ability to satisfy required screenings, which may include criminal background, drug, and registry checks
• Ability to perform the essential physical responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
• Schedule flexibility based on program and business needs

Preferred

• Associate or bachelor’s degree
• Six months to one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or working in a human-services setting
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care
• Experience implementing individualized service or behavioral support plans
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills

Schedule

• Full-Time: Sunday-Thursday, 3:00 PM-11:00 PM
• OR Full-Time: Sunday-Wednesday, 11:00 PM-9:00 AM overnight
• Weekend availability is required as scheduled.
• Working schedules may change based on program or business needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand or work for six to eight hours per shift
• Ability to sit for two to three hours per shift
• Ability to drive a company vehicle for one to four hours per shift
• Ability to bend, reach, stand, stoop, twist, climb steps, and assist individuals as needed
• Ability to lift more than 50 pounds
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
