Job summary

AEDD invites applications for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) 1:1, female. The role is based in Jacksonville, AR, with Sat/Sun 5pm-9pm shifts. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour, negotiable by education and experience, and the position is safety-sensitive.

You will support individuals in essential life skills, accompany them in community activities, and help with daily routines per the service plan, while maintaining documentation and participating in required trainings.

Qualifications

• Age 18 years or older.
• HS Diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant public health, human services, or community service experience; or 2 years of verifiable experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Valid Arkansas driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance.
• Background check and drug screening required.
• Strong communication and ability to follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in developing essential life skills, from health and hygiene to independent living tasks.
• Foster a positive and respectful environment at home and in the community.
• Assist with daily routines as outlined in the Medicaid Waiver Person-Centered Service Plan.
• Help individuals engage with their community through activities like shopping, social events, appointments, and more.
• Provide safe and reliable transportation using your personal vehicle (must meet AR state insurance requirements).
• Maintain records of consumer expenses and document progress.
• Offer valuable input during annual service planning meetings.
• Complete required training, including CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, and in-service sessions.
• Submit weekly documentation and timesheets on time.

What We're Looking For

• Age Requirement: 18 years or older.
• Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant experience in public health, human services, or a community service agency. Alternatively, two years of verifiable experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities may qualify.
• Driver's License & Insurance: Valid Arkansas driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance.
• Background Check & Drug Screening: Required for all candidates.
• Communication Skills: Ability to effectively interact with individuals and understand written instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, reach, and kneel as needed.

Work Environment

You’ll be working in a dynamic group home setting and traveling within the community. The noise level is moderate, and reasonable accommodations can be made to support individuals with disabilities.

Salary: $15.00 per hour
