Job summary

Community Services, Inc. in Gresham, OR is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to empower individuals with disabilities to live more independent, meaningful lives. You will provide hands-on assistance, emotional support, and help with daily activities in the community.

The role focuses on dignity, respect, and personal choice, with a day shift schedule (7:30am–3:30pm), Sundays through Tuesdays, totaling about 30 hours per week, plus full benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• No experience required; training provided.
• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, household routines, and community inclusion.
• Encourage choice, decision-making, and confidence in daily activities.
• Assist individuals in developing life skills for greater independence.
• Build positive, respectful relationships based on dignity and person-centered support.
• Help create safe, inclusive environments at home and in the community.
• Promote participation in social, recreational, and community activities.
• Follow and help implement individualized support plans and document progress.
• Communicate effectively with families, team members, and other professionals to ensure consistent supports.
• Provide encouragement while respecting each person’s goals, preferences, and abilities.
• Ensure daily documentation and record-keeping is completed accurately and timely.

What you will do as a Direct Support Professional (DSP):

Ultimately, the goal is to help the people you support, feel and become as independent as possible, while they live their daily lives. Among other things, you will:

• Support people with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, household routines, and community inclusion and engagement.
• Encourage choice, decision‑making, and confidence in everyday activities.
• Assist individuals in developing life skills that promote greater independence.
• Build positive, respectful relationships based on dignity and person‑centered support.
• Help create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments at home and in the community.
• Promote participation in social, recreational, and community activities.
• Follow and help to implement individualized support plans and document progress.
• Communicate effective with families, team members, and other professionals to ensure consistent supports.
• Provide encouragement while respecting each person’s goals, preferences, and abilities.
• Ensure daily documentation and record keeping is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Comply with all applicable regulations, organizational policies..../ prerequisites.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age
• No experience, don’t worry – we’ll train you!
• Excellent problem‑solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record preferred for day and swing positions
• Acceptable background check
