Advancing Opportunities, Inc. in Demarest, NJ is seeking a Direct Support Professional for Sunday through Thursday overnight shifts (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.).
The role provides direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with training provided and a weekend differential of $1.00/hour. Paid training, DailyPay available, and a mission-driven organization focused on dignity, respect, inclusion, and personal choice.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Compassionate and patient approach with a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain required certification.
- Ability to successfully complete: State and federal criminal background checks, Drug screening, Pre-employment physical, PPD screening.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
- Preparing meals and providing feeding assistance when needed
- Supporting daily living skills and greater independence
- Helping individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events
- Providing companionship, encouragement, and supportive guidance
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment
- Following individualized support plans, goals, and established procedures
- Promoting dignity, respect, inclusion, and person-centered care
- Communicating effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and supervisors
- Completing required documentation accurately and promptly
