Advancing Opportunities, Inc. in Toms River, NJ is seeking a Direct Support Professional for part-time weekday hours (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). You will provide direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supporting daily living, meals, personal care, and community activities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Compassionate and patient approach with a genuine desire to help others
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain required certification
• State and federal criminal background checks; Drug screening; Pre-employment physical; PPD screening

Responsibilities

• Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
• Preparing meals and providing feeding assistance when needed
• Supporting daily living skills and greater independence
• Helping individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events
• Providing companionship, encouragement, and supportive guidance; Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
• Following individualized support plans, goals, and established procedures
• Promoting dignity, respect, inclusion, and person-centered care
• Communicating effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and supervisors
• Completing required documentation accurately and promptly

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide direct care and person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Your responsibilities may include:
