Job summary

Community Options, Inc. in Columbia, SC is seeking Part-Time and PRN Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide person-centered care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No experience required—we provide PAID training and starting pay is $16.00 per hour.

Shifts include first, second, and third, with weekend availability required (every other weekend). There are opportunities for advancement and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal background checks, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with daily routines including cleaning, cooking, feeding, medication administration, and maintaining personal hygiene.
• Monitor the health and medical needs of individuals and report concerns.
• Assist with the learning and development of independent and community-based skills.
• Participate with individuals in community, social, and recreational activities.
• Drive individuals to medical appointments and activities in the community.
• Ensure program documentation and billable records are completed accurately and timely.
• Build a support network by developing and maintaining relationships with community members, businesses, and families.
• Cooperate with license and department staff in inspections, inquiries, or investigations.

Starting Pay:$16.00 per hour

Shifts Available:See below(Candidates must have weekend availability - must be able to work every other weekend)

First Shift:7:00am - 3:00pm, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Second Shift:2:00pm - 10:00pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm, or 4:00pm - 12:00am

Third Shift:11:00pm - 7:00am, 12:00am - 8:00am

Responsibilities

• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
• Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
