Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently at home. The role offers flexible hours and opportunities to learn fundamentals of quality home care, delivering meaningful support under an innovative industry leader.

Responsibilities include following care plans, assisting with personal care, transportation, and light housekeeping, with emphasis on reporting changes and maintaining client safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of in-home care experience.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring).
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition.

DSP Responsibilities
