Job summary

Addus HomeCare in Tennessee is hiring a Direct Support Professional to learn the fundamentals of quality home care and support seniors and people with disabilities living independently. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and a path to meaningful, life-changing service within a growing, values-driven organization.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care, transportation, meal prep, and routine tasks, while reporting changes to the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least one year of in-home care experience.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized.
• Comfortable using electronic devices.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition.

DSP Responsibilities

DSP Qualifications

• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized
• Comfortable using an electronic device.
