Resources for Human Development in the Philadelphia area is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with daily living activities, promote independence, and build life skills in community-based settings.

Paid training provided, including medication administration certification. The role emphasizes person-centered, trauma-informed care and collaboration with supervisors and clinical staff to meet individual goals.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, and document effectively in English.
  • Ability to complete required trainings including CPR, First Aid, medication administration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living including personal care, meals, and housekeeping.
  • Support individuals in developing life skills and independence.
  • Foster community connections and social relationships.
  • Provide supervision and guidance in residential and community settings.

What You'll Do
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and community participation
  • Support individuals in developing life skills, independence, and self-confidence
  • Foster meaningful community connections and social relationships
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support in residential and community settings
  • Implement Individual Support Plans (ISP) and behavioral support strategies as directed
  • Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, day programs, religious services, and family visits
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to crisis situations in accordance with agency policies and procedures
  • Administer medications following certification and agency guidelines
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely, including daily logs, medication records, incident reports, and goal tracking documentation
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and competency-based learning activities
  • Collaborate with supervisors and clinical staff to ensure individual needs and goals are met
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to read, write, and document effectively in English
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email, electronic documentation, and timekeeping systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to complete required trainings, including CPR, First Aid, medication administration, and other assigned training
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices
  • Experience working in behavioral health, residential, or community-based services
Schedule
  • Part-Time
  • Schedule flexibility required
  • Hours may vary based on program and individual needs
  • Schedule subject to change to meet business needs
  • Participation in emergency and on-call situations may be required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform household and community-based activities
  • Ability to safely transport individuals when required
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
