Job summary

New Horizons in Autism, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional to support adults with autism in a residential home setting.

You will provide direct care, help with daily living activities, and ensure health, safety, and well-being while promoting independence and life skills. The role offers training, ongoing support, and opportunities for growth within a dedicated nonprofit serving Bergen, Monmouth, and Ocean counties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher degree (diploma or transcripts required)
• Must be at least 20 years of age
• Valid, non‑probationary New Jersey driver's license
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with individuals with autism
• Must successfully complete all pre‑employment requirements, including: Central Registry, CARI, DMV Check, Drug Screening, Physical Examination, PPD Testing

Responsibilities

• Providing direct care and supervision in a residential home
• Assisting with personal care and daily living activities
• Administering and documenting medications
• Teaching and reinforcing independent living and life skills
• Providing transportation to appointments and community activities
• Completing required documentation accurately and professionally
• Supporting the overall day-to-day operation of the residence
