Job summary

Mount Rogers Community Services Board is seeking a Direct Support Professional II to provide skill building and supportive services for individuals with developmental disabilities to live, learn, and participate in their communities.

The role involves accurate documentation, crisis intervention, medication administration, transportation, and assisting with daily living activities. Evening, weekend, and holiday coverage may be required as part of a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of developmental disabilities and related conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including keyboarding.
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and DMV record.

Responsibilities

• Provide skill building and support to individuals to promote independence and participation in activities.
• Complete daily documentation of progress notes, time sheets, and medications in a timely manner.
• Intervene in crises and emergencies; follow policies and seek supervision when needed.
• Administer and document medications per physician orders and procedures.
• Transport individuals using agency vehicles to community activities.
• Contribute to development of person-centered plans reflecting individual strengths and preferences.
