Job summary

South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD), seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals and families in navigating daily challenges and achieving wellness.

The role operates under the Residential Services director and involves community transport and care duties at the Coastal Regional Center in Summerville, SC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities helpful.
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Drives a vehicle on/off campus to transport individuals to destinations and appointments.
• Performs light vehicle maintenance and checks (brakes, cleaning, restraints).
• Follows safety rules when operating the vehicle, including use of restraints.
• Performs direct support duties, including assisting consumers and transporting them to events as needed.
• Reports significant events or suspected abuse per agency policies.
• Adheres to all agency policies and may perform additional duties as required.
