Job summary

Help at Home is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. You will help them live safely, independently, and with dignity.

Responsibilities include following each person’s Individual Support Plan, documenting progress, assisting with daily living tasks, and promoting participation in community activities while respecting personal choice and privacy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved training program
• Passing score on the required written competency test
• Ability to complete background checks and in-service training
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Following each individual’s Individual Support Plan
• Reporting updates, progress, and concerns to the IDD Program Specialist
• Assisting with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, and transportation
• Encouraging participation in shopping, social events, appointments, and other community activities
• Supporting individuals toward personal goals and greater independence
• Promoting personal choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and respect
• Documenting services, activities, and progress
• Communicating with team members to provide high-quality support
