Job summary

Caregiver is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide daily residential and community-based support to individuals with IDD. DSP 1 will assist with activities of daily living, skill development, community inclusion, and safe transportation according to each person’s plan.

Responsibilities include documenting care, administering medications as trained, and participating in ongoing training. The role emphasizes advocacy, empathy, and teamwork in a supportive, person-centered

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clear background check.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to complete electronic documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with activities of daily living (grooming, eating, bathing, dressing).
• Support meal planning/preparation, household routines, and basic housekeeping.
• Help plan outings, encourage independence, and build community connections.
• Support community integration, social interaction, leisure activities, and development of socially valued behaviors.
• Provide transportation to work, appointments, and approved community activities, following safety requirements.
• Administer medications as trained and directed, per policy and the individual’s plan.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation (daily notes, service delivery docs, logs, incident reporting).
• Follow mandatory reporting with timely incident reporting of injuries, suspected abuse/neglect/exploitation.
• Participate in required training and coaching; demonstrate professional ethics and teamwork.
