Job summary

Addus HomeCare in Alabama is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of quality home care while delivering meaningful service.

Responsibilities include following care plans, assisting with personal care, light housekeeping, transportation, meal prep, and reporting changes in condition.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus 1 year in-home care.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills; reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized.
• Comfortable using an electronic device.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition.
