Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and the chance to learn the fundamentals of quality home care while supporting daily living.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care, transportation, and light household tasks. Strong communication and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of in-home care services experience.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and care plans.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated and well-organized.
• Comfortable using an electronic device.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring).
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition.
