Job summary

Firefly Supported Living & Employment Services in Joplin, MO seeks a Direct Support Professional (Caregiver) to assist adults with developmental disabilities in homes and communities, focusing on independence, life skills, and meaningful daily activities.

This position is available as full-time or part-time with evenings and weekends, offering $20/hour base pay plus $1/hour shift differential, holidays, PTO, health benefits, and opportunities for growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Support adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.
• Help individuals access community resources and participate in social activities.
• Provide transportation for appointments, shopping, and community outings.
• Teach independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money management.
• Assist with daily living needs, including personal care and hygiene.
• Document client progress, achievements, and milestones.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Follow each individual’s ISP.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
