Job summary

Crest Services in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Direct Support Professional Mentor to lead and develop the DSP team while delivering direct support to residents. This full-time role offers a structured schedule and the opportunity to mentor new staff as you help individuals achieve personal goals.

You will train, supervise, and model professional care, coordinating with the home team to maintain safety, dignity, and person-centered services. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience and direct care experience working with individuals with disabilities or adults age 65 and older.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance in the state of employment.
• Medication Management Administration Certificate within 90 days of hire.
• Active Mandatory Reporter Certification preferred.
• Dependable, compassionate, patient, and able to serve as a positive role model for others.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, supervision, and protective oversight to individuals served.
• Promote independence and help individuals accomplish their personal goals.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) while ensuring safety, dignity, and respect.
• Onboard, train, coach, and mentor new Direct Support Professionals assigned to your home.
• Serve as a positive role model and resource for DSP team members.
• Collaborate with the Team Lead or Assistant Manager regarding staffing, attendance, and performance concerns.
• Act as a liaison between families, administration, staff, and individuals served to promote consistent, quality care.
• Maintain strong communication and teamwork within the home.
• Help foster a positive, professional team culture focused on person-centered care.
• Promote consistency in daily routines, expectations, and quality of services.
