Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional II in California. This position offers part-time or full-time schedules with a weekend shift each week, paid training opportunities (minimum 40 hours), and shifts from 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.

Pay starts at $21/hr, with a $1 differential for overnight shifts bringing it to $22/hr. Benefits eligibility (medical, vision, dental) after 30 days are provided, along with professional growth and the ASCEND Career

Qualifications

• One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults required.
• Must be willing to work with adults who may exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behaviors.
• Must be willing to provide hygiene care to adults served (males and females).
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 1 within first 6 months of employment (Devereux will assist).
• Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 2 within 12 months of employment. If DSP 1 certified on hire, DSP 2 must be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviors.
• Assisting and supporting in the planning, implementation, and documentation of programs to meet the social, emotional, physical, and personal needs of adults served.
• Assisting, instructing, and supporting individuals with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, bill pay, grocery shopping, and personal hygiene.
• Accompanying individuals on community outings, medical appointments, and other activities as directed.
