Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a dedicated housing case manager in New York City to oversee an assigned caseload, meet with clients regularly, and ensure all housing files and reports are accurate and up to date.

You will engage individuals in a client-centered approach, provide referrals to address housing needs, and coordinate moves with landlords and external agencies to secure suitable placements. CPR and MS Office proficiency are valued assets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with homelessness housing processes and securing entitlements is desirable.
• Strong writing, communication and group facilitation skills are essential.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus; CPR training or willingness to obtain CPR is required or encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients regularly and manage all aspects of the assigned caseload; ensure files and reports are complete and up to date.

• Coordinate moves with landlords and internal/external agencies; liaise with DHS and providers to facilitate housing.

You will also secure entitlements, maintain correspondence relating to housing interviews and vacancies, as well as assist clients to coordinate their move with landlords and other internal personal and external agencies. You will be responsible for serving as a liaison with DHS and other providers to facilitate the housing process for clients. You will provide housing retention services once clients have been placed. You will participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences. You will provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.

Hours

Full-time 37.5 Hours per week

• Monday, Thursday and Friday 8am-9:30pm

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Significant experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and with securing entitlements and housing, and knowledge of mental illness and substance abuse helpful. Demonstrated writing, communication and group facilitation skills. Bilingual abilities a plus. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel. CPR training certification or willingness to complete certification training in CPR.

• Vaccination preferred but not required.
