Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC) in New York City seeks a full-time position to assist in monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will maintain a safe environment, screen residents and visitors, and document incidents while serving meals and assisting with audits.

The role requires CPR and NYC Fire Safety certifications or the ability to obtain them, with overtime mandatory and the commitment to empathetic client engagement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification required.
• NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or ability to obtain certification required.
• NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; willingness to acquire certification.
• Security guard license preferred; willingness to acquire license.
• Food Handler Certificate preferred; willingness to acquire certification.
• TB clearance when required.
• Experience with individuals experiencing homelessness; strong written and verbal communication; bilingual abilities a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities

You will assist in monitoring this residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment. Be part of a team with a commitment to engaging individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing the varied needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. You will manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience. You will also be responsible for screening residents and visitors at front door, create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports and progress notes. Manage inventory for supplies, maintain fire safety drills and logs, and provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed. Assist with inspections and audits. Escort clients and serve meals as needed. Help maintain an orderly and clean facility. Related duties as assigned. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Hours

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

• Various morning, evening & overnight schedules available
