accessAbilities Home & Community Services is hiring Direct Care Workers (IDD Attendants) for part-time roles in Irwin, PA. The job focuses on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in private homes and community settings, including personal care, companionship, and daily living activities.

Ideal candidates will be at least 18, able to lift up to 40 lbs without assistance (and more with assistance), possess a valid driver’s license, and be willing to obtain ACT

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 40 lbs. without assistance and up to 200 lbs. with assistance (hoyer lift).
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Ability to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants with daily living activities and health and safety needs.
• Help with cooking, cleaning, home chores, shopping, appointments, crafts, games, and companionship.
• Support in home and community activities to gain socialization and independence.
• Ensure the participant's participation in community events and recreational outings.

Companion Services

Employees provide services to participants living in private homes focusing solely on the health and safety of the participant.

IDD attendants might help a participant with:

• Cooking
• Cleaning
• Home chores
• Shopping
• Attending medical appointments
• Making crafts
• Playing a board game
• Watching a favorite show
• Providing companionship

In Home and Community Supports

Employees provide services to help people gain, maintain, and improve skills that allow them to live and participate in their local community.

IDD attendants may assist participants with the following:

• Gaining socialization and adaptive skills
• Shopping and errands
• Going out to eat at their favorite restaurant
• Taking a participant bowling, to a movie, or the library
• Exploring a museum, amusement park, or festival
