Job summary

accessAbilities is hiring Direct Care Worker (IDD Attendant) in Acme, PA to assist individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in their homes and community settings. This part-time position offers flexible schedules and a people-first environment focused on independence and daily living skills.

Responsibilities include supporting participants with cooking, cleaning, shopping, attending appointments, and social activities, while ensuring safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 40 lbs. without assistance and up to 200 lbs. with assistance (hoyer lift)
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
• Ability to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances

Companion Services

Employees provide services to participants living in private homes focusing solely on the health and safety of the participant.

IDD attendants might help a participant with:

• Cooking
• Cleaning
• Home chores
• Shopping
• Attending medical appointments
• Making crafts
• Playing a board game
• Watching a favorite show
• Providing companionship

In Home and Community Supports

Employees provide services to help people gain, maintain, and improve skills that allow them to live and participate in their local community.

IDD attendants may assist participants with the following:

• Gaining socialization and adaptive skills
• Shopping and errands
• Going out to eat at their favorite restaurant
• Taking a participant bowling, to a movie, or the library
• Exploring a museum, amusement park, or festival

Our participants enjoy being involved in community events and we are always seeking out fun things to do locally!
