Job summary

Williams is seeking a Director of Corporate Communications in Tulsa to lead an integrated, enterprise-wide communications strategy that aligns with business goals. You will advise senior leaders, shape executive engagement for the CEO, and mentor a six-person communications team embedded at the leadership tables of each major function.

The role calls for strong writing, strategic judgment, and the ability to manage confidential matters with discretion in a fast-paced, regulated energy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or related field and minimum 12 years of progressive corporate communications experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of people-management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior leadership and handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional teams and executive engagement programs.
  • Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills; capable of translating complex topics into clear narratives.

As the Director of Corporate Communications, you will lead Williams’ integrated communications strategy across the enterprise’s core functions—including Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance/Investor Relations, and IT/Business Transformation—ensuring clear, consistent, and credible messaging that aligns with business strategy while protecting and advancing the company’s reputation. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs, you will serve as a strategic advisor to enterprise leadership and will partner closely with the VP to develop and execute the executive engagement strategy.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Develops and drives an integrated, multi-channel communications strategy spanning HR, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance/IR, and IT/Business Transformation, ensuring alignment of internal and external messaging with enterpriseobjectives
  • Serves as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership on communication priorities, sensitive and confidential matters, and reputation management
  • Partners with the VP of Corporate Affairs to design and execute the executive engagement and visibility strategy for the CEO, including thought leadership, speaking platforms, and internal and external positioning
  • Leads, mentors, and develops a team of six communications professionals embedded at the leadership tables of the CFO, General Counsel, CHRO, and CTO, ensuring consistent standards while supporting each function’s distinct needs
  • Ensuresmessaging consistency, clarity, and brand integrity across all functions, audiences, and channels
  • Provides communications counsel and support for crisis, issues, and rapid-response situations in coordination with Legal and Corporate Affairs
  • Partners with Finance/Investor Relations on financial and stakeholder communications,maintainingdiscretion on confidential and market-sensitive matters
  • Establishes measurement frameworks and report on communications effectiveness to inform data-driven decisions
  • Collaborates across the Corporate Affairs leadership team to align integrated communications with strategic communications, creative and brand experience, and community impact priorities
  • Manages agency, vendor, and partner relationships in support of enterprise communications
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field and minimum 12 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, either in-house or agency, including at least 5 years ofpeoplemanagement experience

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic counselor to senior executives, with the judgment to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, including communications professionals embedded within business functions
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
  • A self-starter who is creative, collaborative, and effective in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships enterprise-wide
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the energy industry or other highly regulated, capital-intensive sectors (preferred, notrequired)
  • Preferred: Experience supporting investor relations or financial communications at a publicly traded company
  • Preferred: Experience leading executive engagement and thought leadership programs
