Job summary

Williams seeks a Director of Corporate Communications in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to lead an enterprise-wide communications strategy spanning HR, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance/IR, and IT/Business Transformation. You will report to the VP of Corporate Affairs and serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, shaping executive engagement and visibility for the CEO.

You will build and mentor a team of six communications professionals embedded at the CFO, General Counsel, CHRO, and CTO leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in corporate communications.
  • At least 5 years of people management experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and drives an integrated, multi-channel communications strategy spanning HR, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance/IR, and IT/Business Transformation, aligning internal and external messaging with enterprise objectives.
  • Serves as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership on priorities, confidential matters, and reputation management.
  • Designs and executes executive engagement and visibility programs for the CEO, including thought leadership and speaking platforms.
  • Leads and develops a team of communications professionals embedded at leadership tables across CFO, General Counsel, CHRO, and CTO.
  • Ensures messaging consistency, brand integrity, and cross-functional alignment across audiences and channels.
  • Provides communications counsel for crisis, issues, and rapid-response in coordination with Legal and Corporate Affairs.

As the Director of Corporate Communications, you will lead Williams' integrated communications strategy across the enterprise's core functions-including Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance/Investor Relations, and IT/Business Transformation-ensuring clear, consistent, and credible messaging that aligns with business strategy while protecting and advancing the company's reputation. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs, you will serve as a strategic advisor to enterprise leadership and will partner closely with the VP to develop and execute the executive engagement strategy.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Serve s as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership on communication priorities, sensitive and confidential matters, and reputation management
  • Partner s with the VP of Corporate Affairs to design and execute the executive engagement and visibility strategy for the CEO, including thought leadership, speaking platforms, and internal and external positioning
  • Lead s , mentor s , and develop s a team of six communications professionals embedded at the leadership tables of the CFO, General Counsel, CHRO, and CTO, ensuring consistent standards while supporting each function's distinct needs
  • Ensure s messaging consistency, clarity, and brand integrity across all functions, audiences, and channels
  • Provide s communications counsel and support for crisis, issues, and rapid-response situations in coordination with Legal and Corporate Affairs
  • Partner s with Finance/Investor Relations on financial and stakeholder communications, maintaining discretion on confidential and market-sensitive matters
  • Establish es measurement frameworks and report on communications effectiveness to inform data-driven decisions
  • Collaborate s across the Corporate Affairs leadership team to align integrated communications with strategic communications, creative and brand experience, and community impact priorities
  • Manage s agency, vendor, and partner relationships in support of enterprise communications
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications , Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field and minimum 12 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, either in-house or agency, including at least 5 years of people management experience

Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic counselor to senior executives, with the judgment to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, including communications professionals embedded within business functions
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
  • A self-starter who is creative, collaborative, and effective in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships enterprise-wide
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with the energy industry or other highly regulated, capital-intensive sectors (preferred, no t requir ed )
  • Experience supporting investor relations or financial communications at a publicly traded company
  • Experience leading executive engagement and thought leadership programs
