Dining Services Supervisor (Highland Grocery)

The Arizona Student Union is looking for a Dining Services Supervisor to join our team at Highland Grocery, one of our finest convenience store on campus. As a Dining Services Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day operations of a dining location and the workflow of the cooks, senior dining service attendants, and dining services attendants including baristas, cashiers, and sanitation staff. In The supervisor supports the manager with employee hiring, scheduling, training and time approval within the framework of university policies and are responsible for inventory and ordering to align with location needs. The Dining Services Supervisor reports to the manager of the dining location.

This position requires a flexible work schedule to meet operational needs and requires evening, weekend and holiday work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead staff during shifts includingassigning stations, side work, other tasks as necessary.
  • Open and/or close the restaurantfollowing established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee operations including Point-of-Sale(POS), shift reports and necessary logs.
  • Monitor product levels andcommunicate inventory needs.
  • Assist manager with dailyoperations of front of house and back of house including ordering, inventorycontrol, food preparation, labor and food costs, budgeting, profit & lossdevelopment and labor.
  • Assist with training staff andcoordinate their work schedules.
  • Communicate verbal and writteninstructions to assigned staff.
  • Monitor the workflow of assignedstaff and notify manager of any concerns.
  • Communicate daily goals, menuschanges, promotions or changes to service.
  • Maintain excellent customerservice by planning, developing and assisting with the implementation of newideas.
  • Lead and monitor effectivecustomer service practices within the unit and address real-time customerconcerns.
  • Ensure maintenance orders aresubmitted, receive materials and supplies via Culinary Services procurement anddistribution system.
  • Ensure safe food handling andworkplace safety practices.
  • May assist with maintaining onlineshop including express catering.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities(KSAs):

  • Ability to interpret instructionsand perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Knowledge of scheduling, customerrelations, and restaurant leadership.
  • Skilled in computerized inventorycontrol systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally lift,move, and transport a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to indoor foodpreparation, storage, and service areas, including exposure to mechanicalparts, heat and cold.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high schooldiploma equivalency is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a high volume restaurant concept.
  • Previous food service production, culinary and service techniques and standards.
