Position Summary
Our Manager-In-Training (MIT) program is a 20-week interactive training designed to develop future managers through hands-on and computer-based learning. The program covers:
- General Training & Comprehension: Performing and teaching kitchen operations, including equipment use.
- Leadership Development: Leading small teams in food prep and service.
- Policies & Procedures: Ensuring food quality, safety, inventory, and customer service standards.
- Reporting: Maintaining records on finances, supplies, and staffing.
- Training & Quality Control: Staff training, quality assessments, and assisting in dietary roles as needed.
- Leadership: Managing payroll, staffing, purchasing, inventory, and budgets.
- Communication: Conveying directives effectively to staff.
- Safety: Using PPE, handling cleaning chemicals safely, and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Punctuality: Consistent attendance and timely responses.
- Customer & Resident Experience: Providing courteous, positive interactions.
Qualifications
- Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, perform routine tasks.
- Leadership skills post-training, with safety and injury prevention focus.
- Associates degree or higher in food service management or hospitality preferred.
- Completion of Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within 14 days of hire.
- Certification as a Dietary Manager or equivalent as required by law.
- Achievement of FSM and LTC-FSM certifications within 60 days.
- Experience in food production, dining, or supervision preferred.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Ability to complete sanitation and safety courses if required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
- Physical ability to lift, push, stand, sit, and perform routine tasks.
- Reside within the service area.
