Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
• Previous management experience in the food service industry.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances; tolerate kitchen heat.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe, sanitary manner per Public Health Regulations.
• Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets per planned menus and doctors’ orders.
• Ensure proper food quantities and timing for service.
• Prepare food for special events as instructed by the Executive Director.
• Maintain costs within budgeted parameters.
• Use proper tasting techniques to ensure quality and palatability.
• Maintain safe food temperatures and record temperatures per policy.
• Report hazardous equipment to the Executive Director.
• Assist in recipe/menus improvements to enhance quality of service.
• Attend workshops and training to stay current with health care standards.
• Supervise dining staff and assist with scheduling and workload.
