Job summary

Harvard University Dining Services is seeking a dedicated General Service Worker to support Front-of-House, Bus Person, and Dishroom functions in a fast-paced dining environment on campus. You will assist with setup, stocking, cleanliness, and guest service, while adhering to health and safety standards and HUDS policies.

The position requires a High School Diploma, English proficiency, basic math, and ServSafe certification within one year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with the English language (speaking, reading and writing).
• Basic math skills and ability to read thermometers and other measuring devices.
• Must follow directions and be neat in appearance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong multi-tasking skills.
• Effective communication with diverse staff and guests.
• Customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and maintains assigned station before, during and after meal periods.
• Keeps serving areas supplied with dishes and utensils.
• Monitors serving lines for quality and quantity to meet demand.
• Communicates food quality and supply issues to supervisor promptly.
• Notifies staff when items are low or need restocking.
• Directs guests to safe menu items based on allergies/intolerances.
• Maintains a clean and safe area; records sanitation logs as required.
• Follows sanitation standards per regulations and HUDS rules.
• Represents HUDS professionally to students, faculty, staff and guests.
• Attends trainings and maintains current certifications.
