Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed at Michigan Tech University in Houghton, MI is seeking an Assistant Director of Dining Services I to lead the second largest dining hall on campus, delivering exceptional guest service and operational excellence.

This role supervises student workers, coordinates dining room and kitchen operations, partners with the Chef and management on nutritious menus, and drives quality and safety standards. Evening hours are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of food service management experience.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Financial experience and business acumen skills.
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
• Associate's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and develop a team of students and supervisors to ensure efficient service.
• Monitor dining room, kitchen, and back-of-house operations to maintain cleanliness, organization, and a positive guest experience.
• Works with the Chef and management team in creating nutritious and top quality food.
• Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.
• Maintains excellent relationships with the client.
• Manages, trains, and develops associates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
